This is how it should be, open space(s) designed like that of designers like Thomas Phifer and Partners. Can you imagine working in such a open space? But it's perfect! So what is Tom trying to get across? I interpret it as him saying that people have become so accustomed to working independently (in their little cubicles) that it has become a design issue. Thus, it is not the people that should change but rather the design of the space. Nice!!

Studios of the future.
This is how it should be, open space(s) designed like that of designers like Thomas Phifer and Partners. Can you imagine working in such a open space? But it's perfect!
