From Trash to Treasure

Here is one of my studies. I have taken old Wegmans (NY grocery) yogurt
cups and made an interpretive flower piece. It is what it is. There is just
something to be said on design and its purpose nowadays. As designers
reuse should always be considered...turning things of "otherwise no value"
into something of future value.

Another Negro League find.

Another history book I have to get my hands on. And the paintings are done
by none other than...Mark Chiarello!

New find: Tina Hoggatt

A new interesting artist I just found. She has been creating baseball
art since the 80's. She even did some commission work for SafeCo field.
These lino prints are awesome and inspired by the
Negro Leagues. If you get a chance look at Tina's site at tinahoggatt.com

Jeans = bag =]

I found this bag at Etsy.com. The user named Vi Carlo created this bag from
an old pair of jeans. What a great idea; very trendy too!

inhabitat.com

Another good upcycling site. And while you're at it look at this bag
for sale; which is made from soda tabs. Cool!!

Etsy.com

When considering design, consider upcycling, or reusing/recreating something
rather than buying something new. As a designer this must always be on our minds.
I now am trying to get more inspiration from my trash/old objects to create objects with new found value; it's a satisfying challenge. Plus I am always in support of handmade quality goods, like
this bag made by mzheartart, which is displayed on etsy.com.
